Abstract

The advent of Information Communication Technology (ICT) has impacted greatly on the lives of people in our society. One of the evil consequences is cyber bullying which is harassing people online through different vices such as sending hurtful and insulting messages, posting humiliating videos and sharing ones’ secret. This paper entitled “ Beyond books to pastoral care: Expanding roles of librarians in checkmating cyber bullying among undergraduates library users in academic libraries”  looked at the conceptual meaning of cyber bullying, its characteristics, effects, the roles of librarians in curbing the evil effect of cyber bullying among its victims, and recommendations to curb the evil.
